Barratt plans 1,400 homes in the region

BARRATT DEVELOPMENTS plans to build 1,400 homes across Yorkshire during the 2015 financial year.

The company, which includes both the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West and Yorkshire East divisions, said its plans will support 3,000 jobs across the region.

A Barratt spokesman said yesterday: “A further 17 developments are set to launch in the 2015/2016 financial year, bringing an additional boost to the local economy as well as addressing the national housing shortage.”

The new East Yorkshire David Wilson developments include The Pastures in Knaresborough and Aspect in Anlaby, while the new Barratt sites will be launching in Doncaster, Barlby and Stamford Bridge.

Ian Ruthven, the managing director at Barratt Developments’ Yorkshire West Division, said: “It’s no surprise that when the house building sector picks up in terms of demand, then we are able to work more closely with the local community and help to underpin jobs, which in turn helps to support the local economy.

“It is fantastic that the demand for new homes in the area is present, and the additional 1,400 homes we will build this coming year should help many families take that next step on the property ladder.”

Barratt hired 12 new apprentices last month, who will join the 34 apprentices and graduates already employed in the Yorkshire division.
