Yorkshire quartet face non-League opponents

- RICHARD SUTCLIFFE

ALL four of Yorkshire’s League One clubs face a potentially tricky FA Cup first-round tie after being drawn against non-League opposition.

Bradford City, conquerors of Chelsea in last season’s competition, must travel to Aldershot, while Barnsley are also on the road, to Altrincham.

Sheffield United will host Worcester City, who stunned Coventry City at the Ricoh in the first round last year, as Doncaster Rovers take on the winners of tomorrow’s replay between North Ferriby United – attempting to make club history by reaching the first round proper – and Stalybridge Celtic.

For manager Phil Parkinson, a first-round visit to a Conference Premier side has echoes of 201415 when the Bantams beat FC Halifax Town at The Shay in front of the live cameras.

City’s boss said: “It is a tough draw but we will be ready when the tie comes round, just like we were at Halifax a year ago.

“We will give them the utmost respect, as if we are not right on our game then it will be a tough afternoon.”

Considering the form Barnsley are in – Lee Johnson’s men have lost five league games in a row –a trip to National League side Altrincham is hardly ideal.

The Blades, meanwhile, must overcome a Worcester side who pulled off a huge giant-killing shock a year ago.

Elsewhere, the draw – which took place at Thackley in Bradford – sent York City to Accrington Stanley on the weekend of November 6-8 while the winners of tonight’s replay between Guiseley and Halifax at Nethermoor will host League Two outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

Yorkshire’s National League duo drew 2-2 on Saturday and Adam Boyes, Guiseley’s goalscoring hero, feels the replay could be another close affair.

He said: “Against Halifax, they have all been quite even games. I was at York with Nicky Wroe, who Halifax have just signed. He is a good player.

“We need to go out and do a job first because Halifax fans will also be thinking exactly the same as us.

“We need to start well and then go from there. In the first half (on Saturday) we were very poor.”

Selected ties: Altrincham v Barnsley, Aldershot v Bradford City, Sheffield United v Worcester City, FC Halifax/Guiseley v Wycombe, Doncaster Rovers v Stalybridge/ North Ferriby, Accrington v York City.
