IT WAS A party by strict invitation only.

Ed Balls, once Labour MP for Morley and Outwood, and Naga Munchetty, once a Leeds University student and now a breakfast television personality, put on their gladrags last night for the launch of Strictly Come Dancing.

They joined presenter Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman for a red carpet event at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire where the series is filmed.

Meanwhile, Strictly Come Dancing professional couple Aljaz Skorjanec and Janette Manrara said that no-one can ever fill the shoes of departing judge Len Goodman. The engaged pair are in rehearsals for the forthcoming 14th series of the BBC show, starting on Saturday, which will be head judge Goodman’s final after 12

Skorjanec, 26, compared Goodman’s peerless tenure to Fred Astaire, who the couple are set to celebrate in a new theatre show after the series is over. He said: “It’s kind of like Fred Astaire, no-one is ever going to replace Fred and Len has left such an incredible, huge mark on this TV show.

“He’s probably one of the biggest reasons the show is so successful the way it is today. Whoever is going to come in is going to just be a new judge, I don’t think they’ll be a new Len.”

Meanwhile, actress Georgia May Foote and her Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice have split up - less than a year after confirming their relationship. The pair partnered on the dancing show in 2015 but Foote has said it is better for them to be friends.
