Student housing complete for new term

-

A MULTI-MILLION pound student housing development has been completed in York.

The 18-month project has created 326 units of student accommodation in time for the new academic year.

It has been built by Eric Wright Construction on behalf of McLaren Property and aims to provide students with environmentally friendly accommodation close to their campus.

Based on Hallfield Road, the scheme serves the University of York, the University of York St John and a teaching hospital.

The development, which has been designed by Leeds-based DLA Architecture, is organised in a cluster style and includes studio flats and shared kitchens.

John Hartnett, operations manager at Eric Wright Construction, said yesterday: “This high quality student accommodation is designed to help meet York’s growing student housing requirements.

“We are delighted to have collaborated on this project with high-profile partners and to enhance our portfolio of successful student accommodation in the region.”

Jez Conen, the senior development manager with McLaren Property, added: “The development has been designed and built to a very high standard.”

Founded in 1923, The Eric Wright Group is one of the North West’s largest construction, civil engineering, property development and facilities management companies.
