Speakers confirmed for careers conference in region

-

THE NORTH of England’s largest careers conference takes place in Leeds next month, with a host of speakers already confirmed for the event.

Careers Live is aimed at all those involved in the careers, education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) sector and is being held on March 23.

The bi-annual free to attend event brings together careers professionals, policy makers, employers, schools and colleges to discuss the latest information and insight about careers advice.

The day is full of workshops and debates as well as insight from keynote speakers.

They include Anita PyrkotshJones, HMI National Lead for Careers, Ofsted, who will give an update on the framework and discuss what “outstanding” looks like in schools and colleges.

David Andrews, a leading national expert on careers education and guidance in schools and colleges, will talk about the current CEIAG related policies and political influences and give an insight in to how the future of CEIAG is shaping up.

Paul Warner, director of policy and strategy with the Association of Employment and Learning Providers, Dr Floyd Millen, head of operations for the Careers and Enterprise Company and Jan Ellis, chief executive of the CDI, will lead a panel looking at the future for careers strategy in England.

The event, being held at the Carriageworks Theatre, in Leeds, offers schools and colleges an opportunity to review how CEIAG policy is being implemented, to reflect with Ofsted about careers education in the common inspection framework and what they consider ‘good’ career education, and to look at what more can be done to improve quality in CEIAG design and delivery.

It attracts head teachers and principals, along with senior staff from many schools.

The event is seen as a place to network with professionals engaged in working with young people and to exchange “knowledge, ideas and aspirations”.

There will also be a series of workshops. For more information visit www.aspire-igen.com/ careers- live.
