Join war reporter at hotel’s literary lunch

-

TICKETS ARE still available for the Literary Lunch with Martin Bell – and the chance to get a signed copy of his new book before it is officially released.

The event, with Harrogate International Festivals, will take place on April 25 at the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate.

As well as enjoying a twocourse entertaining lunch and the chance to hear from one of the country’s best known TV war reporters, audiences will have the opportunity to buy pre-release signed copies of his new book,

The compelling account mixes autobiography, reportage and a ‘state of the nation’ survey of wartime reporting.

Martin Bell has been under fire in conflicts from Belfast to Nigeria and El Salvador, and kept the company of soldiers, warlords, mercenaries and militias.

He also spent four years in the House of Commons.

Then in 2004, he stood as an independent for the European Parliament but failed to win a seat.

The book is not due for general release until June.

Bell wrote his latest book after stumbling across a box in his attic crammed with notes and scripts dating back to when he first joined the BBC in 1962.

It was the trigger for his reflections on reportage and how it has changed over the years

The Yorkshire Post Literary Lunch will start at 12 noon.

To book see www.harrogateinternationalfestivals.com or call the box office on 01423 562 303.
