Town fans in line for bargain prices

-

Some of Huddersfield Town’s fans will get to watch Premier League football for just £199 for the entire season if the club win the Championship play-off final against Reading on May 29.

The remarkable offer – which has now been closed – was made last month and 17,522 fans signed up.

If the Terriers win at Wembley it will work out at just £10.47 per match for next season.

It will be even cheaper for 4,400 supporters, who will pay just £100 – £5.26 per match – after taking up chairman Dean Hoyle on his ‘personal Premier League pledge’ back in March 2010.

The club stand one game away from their first promotion to the Premier League and fans will enjoy some unprecedented season-ticket discounts.

Hoyle announced in 2010 that every season-ticket holder from either the 2008-09 or 2009-10 seasons, who continued each year from 2010-11, would be able to buy a season ticket for £100 for the club’s first season in the Premier League.

Hoyle, who sold his greetings cards business for a reported £350m in 2010, prides himself on making football accessible to all and followed up with another cut-price offer in March this year.

The club announced adult tickets in any part of the ground for next season would cost £199, £79 for under-18s and £29 for under-eights for the first 17,000 supporters to buy, with 2016-17 season card holders having until April 28 to renew their seat.

In November last year the Premier League revealed the average ticket price for a game during the 2016-17 season was £31.
