Hollywood is not for me, says Jason as he reveals he plans to keep working

SIR DAVID Jason has no intention of stepping away from the small screen, saying “acting has been my life”.

The Only Fools And Horses and Open All Hours star turned 77 in

February.

“People ask me if I am thinking of retiring,” said the star, who is marking 50 years as one of Britain’s favourite actors with a new documentar­y series. Using his Only Fools And Horses catchphras­e, he added: “It doesn’t occur to me. Different day, different challenge, different way. Lovely jubbly.”

He said: “To make people laugh, to entertain, create a wide range of emotions. It has always been a tremendous thrill for me and it still is.”

Sir David, famous for his role as Del Boy in Only Fools, said he had never been tempted to try out Hollywood as there are “too many interestin­g parts... here”.

His comments came as a finance expert concluded that

Only Fools characters Del Boy and Rodney, played by Nicholas Lyndhurst, would be millionair­es in today’s market, thanks in part to their Peckham flat but also two gems the characters smuggled back in an episode. Filming for the fourth series of

Still Open All Hours will get under way in Doncaster next month.

The filming of the series will mean the new show will equal the number of series of the original show which ran from 1973 to 1985. ■ David Jason: My Life On Screen
