SHEFFIELD-BASED HENRY Boot Construction has secured three new projects at several locations across the UK worth £20m.

Site teams in East Yorkshire will deliver a £9m project to construct the University of Hull’s Sports Development Phase 2 which will commence this month.

Representing Phase 2 of the University’s £16m total investment to enhance sports facilities at its Cottingham Road campus, the works comprise the design, construction and management of a new 12-court sports hall, with subsequent refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing Grade II listed sports centre and squash courts.

Phase 1, due for completion soon, has seen Henry Boot Construction build a new sports pavilion as part of a £3.5m investment in the sports grounds which include a new 3G pitch and the refurbishment of two existing pitches.

The second project is a £6m contract to transform the historic St George’s Concert Hall in Bradford. The third contract to be awarded is a £5m design and construction project to create a National Centre in Combustion and Aerothermal Technology at Loughborough University.

Funded through a partnership comprising the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, the Aerospace Technology Institute and Innovate UK, the centre will focus on the development of future low emission aerospace combustion systems designed to reduce the environmental impact of aircraft.

Rolls-Royce will be a lead partner in the project.

Tony Shaw, operations director at Henry Boot Construction, commenting on the Bradford project, said: “We’re tasked with delivering a full refurbishment of the auditorium and front-ofhouse areas, as well as carrying out much-needed external improvements and repairs.

“Internally, we will refurbish the auditorium seating, raise the circle and upper gallery seating levels and remove and replace the existing stage.

“Externally, our work will focus on extensive stone repairs and replacement of the slate roof and timber windows.

“Each of these three projects underlines our continued commitment to delivering only the very highest quality construction work, on time and on budget to exceed our customer’s individual requirements.”
