Fund for nightclub victim’s family

-

A FUNDRAISING campaign has been launched to assist the family of a young man who died ten days after a nightclub attack.

James Etherington, 24, died following an incident outside Bijou nightclub in Bingley on November 25.

He was found seriously injured outside the popular nightspot and later died surrounded by his family on December 5.

His girlfriend Imogen Wellman-Brown posted on Facebook: “It is absolutely heartbreaking that nothing will bring my amazing boyfriend back. You were the best and most perfect boyfriend I could have wished for.”

Police have since launched a murder inquiry and arrested four men – aged 31, 30, 28 and 23 – in connection with James’s death.

The 31-year-old and 30-yearold were released under investigation, the 23-year-old was bailed and the 28-year-old was released without charge.

A funding site has since been set up and has amassed more than £7,000 so far. Family friend Karen Pritchard wrote on the page: “The outpouring of love for James and support for his family has been overwhelming. So many people have been touched by this tragic loss of a young life. Not just his many, many friends, but the wider community too.”

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Scott of Protective Services (Crime) said: “I would appeal to anyone with information about the incident and who hasn’t yet come forward to do so.”
