A new large -scale installation by artist Chiharu Shiota called Beyond Time is installed in the 18th-century chapel at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, near Wakefield. The exhibition takes place from tomorrow until September 2.

A NEW perspective on the socalled Young British Artists is offered in one of two new exhibitions due to start at Yorkshire Sculpture Park in Wakefield.

Created using 2,000 balls of white wool, Chiharu Shiota’s large-scale installation Beyond

Time fills the park’s 18th-century chapel.

An “awe-inspiring” ethereal web of white thread sweeps towards the room’s ceiling.

But In My Shoes, an Arts Council collection exhibition showcases how artists – including Tracey Emin, Grayson Perry and Sarah Lucas – represent themselves through 2D and 3D work, in the context of a ‘selfie’ image.

The touring exhibition explores the ways in which UKbased artists have represented themselves in their work since the 1990s.

The display presents key early works by so-called Young British Artists including Emin, Lucas and Gavin Turk alongside the work of a younger generation such as Rachel Maclean and Bedwyr Williams.

In My Shoes goes on show at the 18th-century Bretton Hall estate sculpture park in West Bretton, which celebrated its 40th anniversary last year, from tomorrow to September 2 and Beyond Time will run from tomorrow to June 17.
