Legal standards for hospital food

A commitment to new legal standards for hospital food will be announced by Labour today.

Shadow Health Secretary Jonathan Ashworth is expected to announce the policy as the party says some hospitals have been spending less than £3 on each patient per day for their meals. The Department of Health and Social Care said it had already introduced “the first ever legally-binding food standards in the history of the NHS”.
