-

A YORKSHIRE illustrator has spoken of his pride at seeing his work displayed at one of the region’s most attractive revamped venues.

Chris Mould is now the subject of a limited time exhibition at the Piece Hall in Halifax.

The father-of-two’s prominent work, mostly published in children’s books, includes illustrations in Matt Haig’s

AAnd the 49-year-old has returned to the 18th century Piece Hall, which reopened last year after a £19m restoration project, to lead workshops at the venue that he visited as a child.

“I get a lot of support locally and that’s always good,” he told

“I know the Piece Hall from when I was a kid,

“I have seen it over the years. It’s really good seeing it in its present state.

“There’s loads of visitors now all the time, it’s good to see it lively and I’m really pleased with how it looks.”

The exhibition, which opened at the 18th century venue last month, features a range of his published illustrations from books including and the

series. He has also been leading workshops at the Piece Hall during the exhibition, including one yesterday for drawing enthusiasts.

Mr Mould, who lives in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, said: “The workshops are basically me doing step by step drawing.

“I try to give people something that they can take away and use themselves afterwards too.

“It was a full session and everyone seemed to really enjoy it.”

Mr Mould said the display, which was originally planned to finish its exhibition in May, has been so popular that talks are now ongoing with the venue about extending it to continue later in the year.
