Next-Up website aims to give former executives a new lease of life

-

AN ORGANISATION looking to help former executives find fulfilling roles in the twilight of their careers has launched a new jobs website.

Next-Up’s new website features interesting projects that charities and businesses need help with, as well as trustee and non-executive director roles and wider ideas to use skills such as e-mentoring start-up businesses through the Prince’s Trust.

Victoria Tomlinson, chief executive and founder of Next-Up, said: “We want to create a new market through this site. We have done considerable research with charities and not-for-profits and they would absolutely love to tap into the experience of this unretired market.

“But many struggle to find the right trustees and had not even thought of asking for help on projects.

“Equally, a number of unretired people have written to schools, councils, charities and more offering their skills and not even had a reply.

“They were offering help for free – they just want to feel useful and relevant. I hope we can bring these two together and really make more of this untapped resource.”

The job board is free both to post projects and jobs, and to access the opportunities.

Next-Up launched in May. The organisation is aiming to help ‘unretirees’ – top level executives who are looking for a purpose after having moved on from their previous roles.

Ms Tomlinson said: “A lot of people are left in a difficult place because they have been so full on when they’ve been working that they haven’t really had time to research and think about putting together a plan for the next stage of their career.”
