Call to curb power to expel pupils

-

Ministers must curb the power of head teachers to expel unruly pupils to stop them being lured into gangs, a former Education Secretary has warned.

Tory Lord Baker of Dorking said the capacity of head teachers to expel pupils had grown “out of all proportion” and must be restrained. He told the House of Lords that an expelled child was “on the road to a culture of gangland”.
