Park-and-ride application submitted

-

LEEDS CITY Council has now formally applied to its planning department for the Stourton park and ride facility with space for up to 1,200 vehicles.

The facility and single-storey terminus building would be created by the M621 junction 7 roundabout and Hunslet Cemetery. The council has said that it could result in a potential reduction of traffic through the Middleton and Belle Isle areas in the south of the city that would use the park and ride site, with access from the M621, A61 and A639 only.

It would also offer an increased number of running lanes on the A61 and A639 on approach and around M621 Junction 7, helped by new traffic signals to improve movements in the peak hours.

It would have a departure lounge, ‘real-time’ information, smartcard ticketing, car park security and other facilities.
