Police officers injured in car crash
TWO POLICE officers in West Yorkshire have been injured during the pursuit of a car.
The officers were inside an unmarked police car when it was involved in a collision with a silver Toyota Yaris on Thornton Road in Bradford on Saturday.
West Yorkshire Police said the Toyota was being followed by a marked patrol car after it failed to stop in the Manningham Lane area of the city at about 12.15am. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries and three other uninjured occupants were arrested at the scene.
The injured police officers were taken to hospital for treatment before being released later in the morning. A force spokesman said the incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which passed the investigation back following a review.
Meanwhile, a police officer suffered a “serious injury” after being struck by a car in Milton Keynes. Officers from Thames Valley Police were called to reports of a burglary at around 7.25pm on Saturday in Belsize Avenue.
The force said offenders fled in a car, believed to be a black Audi S3, which then struck the female officer on Beverley Place. The victim had been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and was said to be in a non life-threatening condition.
Senior investigating officer Detective Superintendent Justin Fletcher yesterday said: “We are at the early stages of this investigation.”
