Stranded sheep pulled to safety
GOOLE: A flock of a dozen sheep were rescued from a river by a fire crew after becoming stranded.
Firefighters were called to land near the Black Horse Hotel, in Rawcliffe Bridge, near Goole, after the animals were spotted at about 1pm yesterday.
Water rescue specialists dug a trench and pulled the 12 sheep out of the mud and water to safety.
A spokesman for Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said the sheep were then guided to land and returned to the farmer.
