‘Historic’ George III letter up for auction
ROYAL: A handwritten letter in which King George III signals his intent to go to war with France and Napoleon in 1803 is to be sold.
It was written by King George III to Lord Hawkesbury, Secretary of State, and is described as a “defining moment of history” by auctioneers at Cheffins in Cambridge with an estimate of £1,000. It will be auctioned on January 10.
