Lost monkey puzzle tree replaced

-

A NEW monkey puzzle tree has been planted on the estate of an East Yorkshire country house to replace a tree lost in bad weather earlier this year.

The original monkey puzzle tree at Sewerby Hall and Gardens was originally planted 150 years ago as part of the one of the most successful plantations in the North. It is thought to have been grown on-site by Yarburgh LloydGreame from seeds he brought back from his trip to South America in the early 1860s.

Marie Gascoigne, the estate’s facility manager, said she was “delighted” the tree had been replaced after the “sadness” of losing the original.
