18,000 male victims a year

FIGURES REVEAL police forces across Yorkshire received 18,646 reports of domestic abuse with men the victim in 2017/18.

According to the Crime Survey for England and Wales, 7.2 per cent of men suffered from domestic abuse, with 5.1 per cent suffering from partner abuse.

However it is believed thousands of victims are not reporting crimes out of shame and fear.

Victim Alan said: “There must be so many other male victims who haven’t come forward.

“More men need to come forward to get better services.”
