Car in near miss at open level crossing
RAIL: A car driven over a level crossing with raised barriers avoided being hit by a train by just a quarter of a second, investigators have said.
An inquiry has been launched into why traffic was cleared to drive over the crossing near Great Plumstead in Norfolk despite a train approaching at 45mph on November 24.
Since the near-miss, Network Rail has imposed a 20mph restriction on the six similar crossings on the NorwichCromer-Sheringham line to cut the chance of further incidents.
