Bid to raise awareness

ALISON WRIGGLESWORTH has spoken out in the hope that there can be a greater recognition for research into rare diseases.

She claimed that there will be people in Yorkshire who also have the condition she suffers from, Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease, but remain unaware.

“Having a diagnosis meant I could help myself, in a way,” she adds. “It’s made a massive difference, knowing about it.

“And knowing that I’m not the only person in the world with this, that I’m not making it up, that it’s not all in my head.

“It’s not going to happen in my lifetime, but I do hope that there might one day be a better understanding and a cure.”
