Don’t blame Brexit and European Union for North’s economic woes – Yorkshire Post Letters

Geoff Hammond. Well written. There are no clear economic benefits from Brexit for ordinary working folk.

Jagjit Singh. We blame the Government who ploughs money into the South.

Helen Clayton. Absolutely agree. Having been South this weekend its infrastructure runs like clockwork. Up here everything is late.

Thomas David Blenkinsopp. I agree with the letter writer.

Andy Beck. If Yorkshire was an EU country, we’d have 12 MEPs and our own commissioner.

Jo Douthwaite. We need self belief! This country has some of the greatest talent in the world and we are frightened we can’t go it alone! Why?

June Lockwood. First we need to get to control our borders.

Mark Johnson. As the HSBC advert says: we are no longer a stand-alone nation; we are part of something much, much bigger.

John Miles. Totally agree with the letter. I would rather see the UK reform its position within the EU through reform of domestic policy.

Brendon Bremner Sullivan. There are a lot of people who will be very disappointed if they are expecting Brexit bonuses.

Christian I’Anson. The ability to elect and remove those who propose and legislate our supreme laws is the key to Brexit. It matters.

Alan James. Tories have cut millions from Yorkshire and are happy for people to scapegoat the EU for central government policies.

Michael Taylor. The question depends entirely on what you propose post-EU.

Gordon Bill Ross. Why were cuts made? We had no money left.

Dave Schofield. Blame consistent and disproportionate underfunding of the North from central government.

Harry Webb. What are elected MPs doing?

Keith Bottjer. Brexit means having £1bn per month more to spend on UK projects and not new Polish roads.
