Tech bosses aim to claim top awards

SIX YORKSHIRE based tech entreprene­urs are a step closer to pitching their business at a global conference in Barcelona, having reached the Northern heat of KPMG’s Best British Tech Pioneer competitio­n.

The business leaders will be pitching alongside nine others in Manchester tomorrow to a panel of judges from the Northern tech community. At least two entreprene­urs will be selected to progress to the national semi -finals in London, hoping to win a place at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona next month.

The six businesses from this region to be competing are Damson Global, from York, Hark, Scaled Insights, Slingshot Simulation­s and Vet-AI which are all based in Leeds, and Sheffield’s Tribosonic­s

Enterprise, who works with fast-growth businesses in the North, said: “These innovative businesses are a step closer to the opportunit­y to showcasing themselves to an audience of over 100,000 tech industry players, including investors looking for the next emerging giant to invest in, buy from, or form an alliance with, at Mobile World Congress.

“Previous winners of this competitio­n have gone on to have huge success and I can’t wait to hear more from these six disrupters about why they should represent the North at the semi-final in London and ultimately be crowned Best British Tech Pioneer.”

More than £100m has been raised by previous competitio­n finalists from around the country.
