New base at showground for young farmers
THE ORGANISATION representing young farmers’ clubs across Yorkshire is relocating to the region’s epicentre of the agricultural industry in a watershed in its history.
The team from the Yorkshire Young Farmers’ Clubs is moving from Knaresborough, where the organisation has been based for 40 years, into its new offices on the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
The move marks the start of a new era for the organisation, which looks after 45 young farmers’ clubs across Yorkshire, and its chairwoman, Georgina Fort, said it would take long for the team to feel at home in the new base.
“Making a move has been talked about for at least the last 20 years, and I’m very proud and excited that it’s actually happening,” she said.
Nigel Pulling, the chief executive of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, said the organisation was delighted to welcome the Yorkshire YFC to the Regional Agricultural Centre’s offices.
He said: “It makes sense for this important group, who are an integral part of the future of the industry, to be housed alongside the society, further strengthening our support and the ability to work in partnership.”
Ms Fort added: “When we got talking to the team at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society it was like a lightbulb going off. It all just made absolute sense for us to be part of the exciting hub of rural organisations that the centre is home to. It will be lovely to have somewhere so modern and ecofriendly for our staff to work in and our members to visit and use for meetings.”
