FOUR MEN have been found guilty of raping a teenage girl they used as a “piece of meat” in Sheffield.

The four, plus another man found guilty of perverting the course of justice, were convicted following a long-running trial of 10 men at Sheffield Crown Court, South Yorkshire Police said.

Five other defendants were acquitted of rape.

Prosecutors told the jury the girl, now in her 20s, was used as a “piece of meat” as she was sexually exploited by a group of men.

They said she was “nothing more than an object” to these men, who were “able to use and abuse her sexually for their own sexual gratification”.

The complainant first told police about being raped and used for underage sex in 2011, the jury heard, but no investigation was carried out or crime recorded at the time.

Peter Hampton, prosecuting, said the girl, who had moved to South Yorkshire, was aged between 15 and 17 when she was exploited in Sheffield up to a decade ago.

She had been referred to social services at the age of six and placed on the child-protection register at nine. Her mother died when she was young and she was eventually taken into local authority care as her life “descended into chaos”.

Mr Hampton said: “She may as well have had a target on her back as far as those who were criminally minded were concerned.”

The prosecutor said the complainant was “effectively and efficiently groomed” by a 19-yearold woman, Amanda Spencer, who introduced her to men who would go on to rape her.

Spencer received jail sentences totalling 15 years after trials in 2014 and 2017.

Det Insp Rob Platts, said: “I commend the victim, now a woman trying to rebuild her life, for her bravery in coming forward and speaking to police about the horrific abuse she faced.

“She had to recount incredibly traumatic incidents of sexual abuse and exploitation in front of the jury over several days and it is testament to her bravery that she elected to do this in person. I

Peter Hampton, prosecuting. am so pleased her voice has been heard.”

He added: “It is difficult to put into words the damage and impact of sexual exploitation on children but I hope that by hearing this account, other victims find the strength to come forward and tell someone what has happened or is happening to them.”

Jasim Mohammed, 37, of Maxwell Way, Sheffield, was found guilty of three counts of rape; Nzar Anwar, 40, of Exeter Drive, Sheffield, was found guilty of one count of rape and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice; Saba Mohammed, 41, of Faranden Road, Sheffield, was found guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice; Kawan Omar Ahmed, 31, of Margate Drive, Sheffield, was found guilty of two counts of rape; Shangar Ibrahimi, 30, of Cemetery Road, Barnsley, was found guilty of one count of rape.

Usman Din, 35, of Seaton Crescent, Sheffield; Tony Juone, 61, of Pitt Lane, Sheffield; Kamaran Mahmoodi, 37, of Walkley Road, Sheffield; and Saman Mohammed, 41, of Fox Street, Sheffield, were cleared of all offences they faced. Farhad Mirzaie, was also cleared of rape. He previously pleaded guilty to drug offences.

All those convicted will be sentenced on March 13, police said.

She may as well have had a target on her back.
