Thank goodness Corbyn and the Marxists have gone away

AS a committed Conservative, it was music to my ears to hear Sir Keir Stammer insisting that Labour is now under completely new management following the demise of Jeremy Corbyn (The Yorkshire Post, July 27).

All those with moderate and sensible political views like Sir Keir’s are now able to breath a sigh of relief, secure in the knowledge that the failed but dangerous policies of the Marxists have no place in the governance of the United Kingdom. We need to be constantly vigilant against extreme left wing movements, which are simply an excuse to undermine the achievements of the people of this great nation, reducing us all into poverty whilst, at the same time, allowing a few fanatics to rule over the rest of us with total impunity.

WHAT a good job we have removed ourselves from the EU when we did (The Yorkshire Post, July 30). Had we remained, or agreed a Brexit extension period, we would be on the hook of making a contribution of at least £55bn to Europe’s coronavirus recovery fund. You got the timing just right, Boris Johnson.

DO the occupants of 10 and 11 Downing Street ever compare notes? It would appear not.

No 11 is spending hundreds of millions of pounds encouraging the public to eat half-priced hamburger and chips in restaurants, while No 10 is spending huge sums on a campaign to reduce the nation’s obesity problem. It must be a new form of joined up thinking.

I’M afraid Boris Johnson’s plans to tackle obesity (The Yorkshire Post, July 27) are doomed to fail. The only way to tackle obesity is to make healthy food less expensive. Many obese people are victims of poverty and the most unhealthy foods are the cheapest.

MILLIONS, if not billions, are wasted in the NHS. Doctors of old were on call 24/7. Now, with the new pay rise, they will probably only want to work two days per week, or they will be paying so much tax that it will not be worth their while. Throw money at anything and ruin it. Too much money spoils everything for everybody.
