Bantams in need of overdue consistency, says O’Donnell

- BOLTON WANDERERS V BRADFORD CITY LEAGUE TWO STUART RAYNER

THE BIGGEST improvement Bradford City need to make is between their ears if they are to start punching their weight in League Two.

The Bantams travel to Bolton Wanderers for this evening’s 7pm kick- off with both former Premier League clubs in the bottom half of the table.

While the Trotters are struggling to adjust to a new division, take away the Football League Trophy and the Bantams have not had the same result two games running.

“We’ve spoken about trying to be more consistent in what we do and our performances,” said captain Richard O’Donnell.

“We won away at Mansfield and then the first half against Walsall wasn’t particularly great but we were better in the second and arguably could have won the game. Then you saw what happened on Saturday ( a 3- 0 defeat at home to Newport County).

“Get some consistency in our performances and then the results will hopefully follow. But it’s all right saying it, we’ve got to go out and do it.”

Manager Stuart McCall will be closely watching the response against opponents Bradford knocked out of the League Cup on the season’s opening day.

“It’s a mental challenge as much as a physical one for us against Bolton now,” he said.

“We’ve got to have a mentality where if you’re selected, then you’ve got to put in a better performance than we did.”

Defenders Bryce Hosannah and Reece Staunton are expected to return from injury, but not Gareth Evans and Levi Sutton.

Meanwhile, next Tuesday’s visit of Southend United will also kick off at 7pm.
