Government should be ashamed over its vaccine rollout

I JUST thought it should be made known ( if not already) how badly the Government seems to be handling this pandemic.

I wrote to my GP surgery inquiring as to when I would be eligible for the vaccination as

I am 72, have had pneumonia twice in the last 18 months ( one hospitalisation for seven days because of this) and now suffer from bronchiectasis. Therefore I fall into the High Risk category.

I received this response from my GP : “Message to all patients. Due to very limited stock availability of the Covid vaccine, [ The]... practice is currently phoning only patients age 80+ ( surnames A- H) to book Covid vaccinations. When further vaccines are sent, the remaining patients aged 80+ will then be called.

“We unfortunately don’t know when this will be. All high risk and eligible patients will all be contacted in due course when we have further vaccines available to offer, in line with national priorities.”

It is obviously not good enough for all the vulnerable people and the Government should be ashamed of themselves.

AM I right in assuming that someone who is 81 and quite fit is just as likely to be given the covid vaccine before a person who is 88 and vulnerable?

I fall into the latter category and friends tell me how surprised they are I haven’t been contacted yet.

MY wife and I received the first Pfizer vaccination this week. Pfizer, who make and have evaluated the vaccine, say two vaccinations three weeks apart are needed. Nothing else has been tested and approvals have been issued only on this basis.

We are now told that we will only get the first jab with the second deferred for three months.

Surely this invalidates the approval process and leaves us with no certainty that we are protected?

IT looks as though Boris Johnson is telling ‘‘ porkies’’ again! We have found out that in Selby, where we live, one surgery is giving the Covid injection only on Thursdays and Fridays. My daughter’s two friends, who are doctors, are receiving only 100 or 200 vaccines at a time, so how are we going to manage two million a week?
