New boss Butler emphasises opportunity ahead of Rovers

New Doncaster Rovers manager Andy Butler may not go in for flowing oratory, but his message to his players is crystal clear.
Butler has not just taken his position this week to admire the view. He is determined to do something about it, having inherited a side who are firmly in the League One promotion mix.
As it stands, sixth-placed Doncaster have two games in hand on three sides above them, while Hull, in second place, have played three more matches and hold a seven-point buffer.
Butler said: “I want people to say: ‘Wow, Doncaster Rovers excite me and there is a purpose and power about them’. I had asked the players to express themselves and become that team people fear.
“It is all to play for and the players have put themselves in a fantastic position.
“Do not let opportunities pass you by because you do not know, with the squad and players, if you will be involved in this again.
“You have got to enjoy football and seize the opportunity if someone gives you it. We are in a fantastic position and I have said: ‘Do not let it slip’ because you will look back in your career once you have sat down and think: ‘Opportunity missed’ and that is what I do not want this group of players to miss.”
Butler will hold talks about the futures of a number of contracted players whose deals run out in the summer shortly.
Rovers have a number of senior players whose contracts expire including Reece James, Jon Taylor, Joe Wright, Madger Gomes, Brad Halliday and Fejiri Okenabirhie.
