Lib Dem leader pledges tax cut for small businesses to boost recovery

THE LIBERAL Democrats have pledged to cut tax on small businesses in a bid to promote recovery, a move which the party said would remake the high street.

The party leader Sir Ed Davey made the promise during a visit to Hull yesterday.

He said the tax cut would provide rent relief, support on business rates and would slash their National Insurance Contributi­ons by quadruplin­g the annual Employment Allowance from £4,000 to £16,000.

He said it was essential to breathe new life into high streets across the country. Sir Ed said: “I’ve been in Hull today visiting the local community high streets down Newland and Princes Avenue.
