Reaching for the skies as airshow returns after three-year break
A SERIES of jaw-dropping pictures show a British Typhoon flying with a French fighter over Shropshire.
The RAF plane, piloted by Typhoon Display Pilot Flight Lieutenant Adam O’Hare, flew in close proximity to a French Air Force (Armee De L’air) Dassault Rafale aircraft.
The thrilling display was ahead of the RAF Cosford Air Show, which returns tomorrow following a three-year Covidenforced break.
Flt Lt O’Hare is seen piloting the ZJ914 ‘Blackjack’ Typhoon, which always flies with the callsigns Anarchy or Anarchy1.
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a European multi-national twinengine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter.
It is capable of a top-speed of 2,495 km/h, with a range of 2,900km.
Chinook and Puma helicopters are also pictured flying in formation together today.
Attracting 50,000 people to the airfield, the RAF Cosford Air Show incorporates a flying
display, static aircraft, and science, technology, engineering and mathematics displays.
This year, the popular vintage village attraction becomes the Coronation Village – an all-day street party in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
The show is expected to feature 100 aircraft, some static but many will be flying in the skies above the station near Wolverhampton.
A show spokesman said: “The RAF Cosford Air Show will include an action-packed flying display, including powerful demonstrations of modern military aircraft from the Royal Air Force and international military partners.
“There will be captivating appearances from iconic vintage aircraft from throughout the history of aviation and adrenaline pumping aerobatic displays.
“On the ground, there will be a huge assortment on static display for you to view up close, including some which you will be able to sit inside.”
