HARROGATE TOWN winger Abraham Odoh has joined League One outfit Peterborough United for an undisclosed six-figure fee.

The 23-year-old, pictured, who only joined the Sulphurites from Rochdale last July, will effectively replace Coventry City-bound Ephron Mason-Clark at Posh, with chairman Darragh MacAnthony revealing that Odoh had been the club’s ‘number one target’ since January.

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson said: “Abraham is a player we have been watching for a while now and he has been one of the most consistent players at his level.

“He has real potential to develop, and we feel he is the ideal player to bring in following the departure of Ephron Mason-Clark.”

London-born Odoh made 42 appearances last term and scored 10 goals.

Harrogate manager Simon Weaver added: “Abraham has been a fantastic signing for the football club in the time he has been with us.

“He leaves having played a lot of football for us and having improved as a footballer.

“As a football club, we always aim to provide a platform for young lads with aspirations to go higher.

“We should celebrate the achievement of Abraham to get to that level.

“He is a humble lad, he always has a smile on his face. On the pitch, you can see he wants to learn and to entertain, so we wish him the very best of luck.” Meanwhile, Harrogate midfielder Stephen Dooley, 32, has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

Bradford City winger Adam Wilson has been handed a maiden call-up to represent Kenya in their upcoming World Cup qualifying campaign against Burundi and Ivory Coast next month. Relegated Rotherham United, who completed the signing of Northampton Town midfielder Shaun McWilliams on Monday night, are expected to hold talks with released Sheffield Wednesday left-back Reece James about a prospective move.

James, 30, spent a loan spell with the Millers in 2014-15.

Rotherham are also interested in signing Owls midfielder George Byers, whose Wednesday contract expires shortly.
