Woods strikes late to secure win for Batley

A late Josh Woods drop goal secured a 21-20 Championsh­ip win for Batkey Bulldogs over Bradford Bulls.

With the match level, Woods – who also kicked three conversion­s and a penalty – stepped up to secure victory at Mount Pleasant after Joe Burton, Ben White and Alistair Leak crossed for Batley tries.

Bradford replied with touchdowns for Zac Fulton (2) and Tom Holmes, Lilley converting all three and booting a penalty.

Sheffield Eagles battled back from a 13-12 halftime deficit to beat Dewsbury Rams 36-13.

The Rams led with tries from Bailey O’Connor and Jack Billington, Calum Turner converting both and adding a drop goal.

But Sheffield – who saw Kris Welham cross for a first-half brace – ran in five second-half tries, via Joel Farrell, Matty Marsh, Matty Dawson Jones (2) and Connor Bower. Cory Aston kicked four conversion­s.

Feathersto­ne Rovers fell to a 2512 defeat at Barrow Raiders. Caleb

Aekins and Paul Turner crossed for tries, both converted by Addy.

Leaders Wakefield Trinity scored five tries to return from Whitehaven with a 30-6 win.

Tries came from Oliver Pratt, Matty Ashurst, Thomas Doyle, Ky Rodwell and Jermaine McGillvary, Max Jowitt kicking five conversion­s.

York Knights were 30-22 winners at Swinton Lions after a late fightback. Trailing 22-0 with 12 minutes remaining, York ran in five converted tries from Josh Daley (2), Jesse Dee, Joe Brown and Franklin Pele. Taylor Pemberton kicked all five conversion­s.

Halifax Panthers beat Doncaster 34-8.

Joe Keyes (2), Gareth Widdop, Ned McCormack and Kevin Larroyer crossed for tries, Louis Jouffret booting five conversion­s and a couple of penalties. Doncaster replied with late tries from Bureta Faraimo and Luke Briscoe.

■ Wigan defied a second half rain storm to sink Salford 26-6 and rejoin rivals St Helens and Warrington at the top of the Betfred Super League table.

Adam Keighran blazed over from halfway for the opener and added further conversion­s to tries from Junior Nsemba, Brad O’Neill and Bevan French.
