Lit­ter louts in court af­ter fail­ing to pay

SH­EFFIELD: A fur­ther 30 peo­ple were taken to court by Sh­effield City Coun­cil on Thurs­day af­ter fail­ing to be fixed penalty no­tices for lit­ter­ing.

All the of­fend­ers were fined, as well as be­ing told to pay the coun­cil’s costs and a vic­tim sur­charge of £20, with their fines to­talling £7,840.

The coun­cil has pros­e­cuted 229 lit­ter louts in the last 12 months, on top of is­su­ing al­most 1,100 fixed penal­ties.
