BEAUTY BUZZ with Bella Blissett

VICTORIA’S NEW GLOW-TOS

When Victoria Beckham’s first make-up collection for Estée Lauder landed in Selfridges last year, it was one of the most successful beauty launches in the store’s history. And when I met with the designer for the big reveal of her A/W 17 range, it became obvious why. She’s passionate, creative, attentive to detail – and, unusually, sees make-up as a means of telling stories. The heavenly Victoria Beckham x Estée Lauder Cheek Crème in Blonde Mink (below right, £46) was inspired by memories of her mother whipping out her lipstick and rubbing it on VB’s cheeks, ‘whenever I looked peaky’. She used the Eye Matte Duo in Bleu Electrique/Nude (above right, £48) to ‘lift a smoky eye’ when receiving her OBE from Prince William earlier this year. Her six-year-old daughter Harper clearly has excellent taste and likes to wear mummy’s Aura Gloss in Honey (above left, £30) on cheeks – but only round the house. The Eye Foil in Blonde Gold (below left, £28) is a go-to for all-out sparkly lids, while the stunning Matte Lipstick in Black Cassis (right, £38, all esteelauder.co.uk, from September) mirrors the burgundy shade that runs through her A/W 17 catwalk collection. Even the range’s gold, vintage-style casing echoes the zips she uses on her clothing. She says her ‘obsessive eye for detail’ drives David mad at home, but I love her for it. Every so often, I discover a product I don’t ever want to be parted from. In the case of James Read Coconut Melting Tanning Balm (£30, jamesreadtan.com), my addiction was instant. A solid balm, it melts upon contact with warm skin, leaving behind a delicious coconut scent and hydrating sheen that makes uneven skin look incredible. It then develops into a butterscotch glow that’s as perfect for pre-holiday prep as it is for maintaining your tan afterwards.

For all those still seeking the Holy Grail for lustrous, thick, fast-growing locks, Hairburst is causing quite a stir on Instagram. With more than 800,000 followers, posts are dominated by those raving about its range of hair-growth vitamins and Avocado & Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner (£24.99), which improve scalp health and reduce breakage in as little as two weeks. We love the strawberry and blackcurrant Chewable Hair Vitamins (from £19.99, all hairburst.com).
