For this Cornish couple, there was only ever one option for their wedding style. “Jon and I met on the beach and much of our time together has involved being on the sand or in the water,” explains Katy. “We had fallen in love with the church at Porthilly, and often take our miniature dachshund Luna for walks there, or go kayaking from the beach.”
The stunning coastal scenery set the tone for a romantic, yet relaxed affair, with the reception in a marquee at nearby Porthilly Farm next to the estuary. .DW\ FKRVH D ÁRDW\ HPEHOOLVKHG GUHVV by Anna Campbell, and surf-loving Jon went for a smart Moss Bros suit. The religious ceremony was personalised with readings from family members, and instead of an organist, the couple had singer-songwriter Joss White performing and playing guitar. “We used to go and watch his acoustic gigs on the beach when Jon and I were dating,” recalls Katy.
7KH GPFRU KDG DQ HPSKDVLV RQ ÁRUD DQG fauna in green, white and pink. “The large arch was something I wanted from the beginning,” Katy says. “It was a focal point and people could take photos of themselves standing in the middle.” 7KLV ZDV PLUURUHG E\ ÁRZHU ULQJV KDQJLQJ from the marquee roof, and a miniature version around Luna’s neck when she popped in for an hour as a special guest.
Other coastal touches included naming the tables after local beaches and having Porthilly mussels as part of the couple’s stationery design. “They’re harvested LQ WKH HVWXDU\ DQG \RX FDQ ÀQG D ORYHO\ VFDWWHULQJ RI VKHOOV LQ WKH ÀHOG EHDFK and church grounds,” says Katy.
After tucking into sharing platters and drinks, guests were ready to party. “When the sun started coming through the clouds, everyone came outside for RXU ÀUVW GDQFH μ VD\V .DW\ ´7KH WLGH was in and the light was beautiful – it was a really magical moment.”
