UNDERSTANDING CATS

-

Eight years ago, Colin set about understanding more about cat behaviour and went on to work with the BBC TV series ‘The Secret Life of Cats’, which tracked and traced the behaviour of 90 felines in his home village near Guildford.

“We were given unrestricted access to the data and were able to understand when and why they go missing,” he says. Along with Molly, who has a unique skill, the two manage to solve almost every case of a missing cat and dog they take on.

“Molly is unique in the world,” says Colin. “She can take commands using hand movements and even eye movements alone, and shows me exact places by touching her nose. That helps if there’s a nervous cat around. ”It’s an intriguing job and every day is different for the private detective pair. One of the most fraught days in their detecting lives saw Molly nearly die in the line of duty when she was struck twice in the chest by an Adder. The bite became infected but Molly bounced back to reunite more cats with their desperate owners.
