Finding Buba
One of Molly’s recent recoveries was Buba, a nervous rescue cat who fell from a first-floor balcony from a flat in the village of Taplow. Buba was missing for eight days before distraught owner Kathryn McDonagh called the
Pet Detectives.
She tells the story: “I got Buba in 2019. He was the last of a litter and a nervous rescue cat. I live in a first-floor apartment and he liked sitting on the balcony. One morning, I went to check on him and he was gone. My neighbour said he’d seen him fall off and he couldn’t get back up.
“He got scared and ran, and was gone for eight days. All that time, I was searching into the early hours, calling his name. When Colin and Molly came, Molly went straight to the bush under my apartment. Buba wasn’t there. Molly found out he’d crossed a road and I thought ‘that’s it, he’s gone’.
“Molly later returned to the bush and he was there — sitting under our noses. I was over the moon. I kept touching him afterwards to check he was real. Funnily enough, he now loves going outside but he always comes back again.”
