“In the end, there’s only love”

-

We recently had to say goodbye to Monty. He had several health problems all exacerbated by feline dementia. Monty had arrived in our garden 12 years earlier as a stray and after six months of befriending, he decided he liked what he saw, moved into the shed, and eventually moved into our house.

Monty was an independent spirit but he was a much loved and affectionate member of our family.

Before he was put to sleep, I whispered to him: “In the end, there’s only love.” His passing was peaceful. Those moments brought to mind this photo taken a few years earlier. Monty was sleeping in the garden and a rose petal fell off a nearby bush and floated down on to him.The petal looks like a heart full of love just for Monty and that’s how I’ll always remember him.
