Your Cat

REMEMBERING BOB

- The interview with James Bowen.

Ithought the interview with James Bowen in the September issue of Your Cat was excellent.

When Street Cat Bob died, the coverage seemed to be low key. Of course it was reported in the news but there seemed a distinct lack of tributes to a truly amazing cat. Reading the interview with James, this all seemed to make sense. It has taken time to create a truly fitting memorial to Bob.The statue is wonderful and its location is so poignant too. Even the benches feature tributes which is lovely. I don’t think there are many humans who have been afforded such an incredible memorial, and for Street Cat Bob it is so deserved. His and James’s story is testament to the unbreakable and redeeming bond we all have with our pets.

What touched me was how clear it is that James is still grieving. While their story might have been an international success in books and films (if you

haven’t read the books, then you definitely should!) and given James a life he could have never imagined, he just misses his friend. Losing a cat is always hard for us owners and after what they went through, I can understand why James is still struggling to come to terms with it.

The tribute was well worth the (understandable) wait and I am delighted that Street Cat Bob has been immortalised.Thank you for the brilliant interview. Lucy Rivett
