Your Cat

The boys’ club

- Debbie Butterworth

This is a photo of three of my four cats, including Dennis (tabby and white) who came to me recently after his owner got a dog, and after a month or so got a second dog (a puppy). Poor Dennis at 10 years old was virtually made homeless.

One night, Dennis broke in through my cat flap and after repeating this offence several times, I attached a note to his collar asking his owner to call me, which she did.

She explained the situation regarding the dogs and I said:“He’d better come and live with me then.” I think she was taken aback but agreed.

I put a new collar and tag on him and after a couple of days, a gentleman called me and said he’d also been feeding Dennis and he wanted him as well. I explained why the cat had come to live with me and said:“Let the cat decide where he wants to live.”

Thankfully, Dennis chose to live with me and has now lived here since December 2020. He is so affectionate and friendly. I have also changed his microchip details too.

This photo shows how well he has settled in with my other cats, Fergal and Bertie, who’ve both featured in Your Cat Magazine before. Dennis and Fergal are 10 years old and Bertie is eight years old, so they are all around the same age — purrfect!
