Shortage of vets
Hopefully, we are all emerging from the pandemic and heading back to normality. It was difficult for both owners and vets during lockdown, and pressures have not lifted from veterinary practices which are suffering staff shortages in the UK. It is being blamed on a perfect storm of the pandemic, poor staff retention, increasing pet numbers, and Brexit.
The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons is asking vets who are not in practice to help in the short term and talking to EU vet schools about supplying graduate vets to the UK. So, if you need to take your cat to the vet, plan ahead if you can and work with your practice sympathetically to support them through difficult times while they help your pet.
