In October 2018, Paula Pelosi set up Paula’s Cat Rescue based in Poole, Dorset, which is a not-for-profit rescue and is registered with the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH). Paula takes on the more vulnerable cats.

She said:“I am blessed with a huge following of loyal supporters and volunteers. The people who adopt cats from us are like family, we have built a cat community around the rescue.”

With all fundraising events cancelled last year due to Covid, Paula set about producing the rescue’s first calendar, which was so popular they had to do a second run! It was decided to produce another calendar for 2022.

All those who had adopted cats from Paula were invited to submit up to three photos with an entry fee of £5, and then the most photogenic cats would be chosen for the calendar. The response was huge and many cats made their debut in the calendar.

The star of the calendar has to be Tommy, who appears on the front cover with a kitten called Tessy.Tommy is a veteran at 24 years old! He was a previously owned cat who was left behind many years ago. Due to his rather large paws, he was given the nickname Paws and he is actually a polydactyl cat.

Tommy was in a rather battered state when he was admitted into the rescue so at the ripe old age of 24 Tommy’s days of roaming the streets are over. He was the oldest cat the vets have neutered and bounced out of the anaesthetic, and has found a wonderful new home with all the comforts to see out his old age.
