Calendar quotes

-

Katie Lloyd, care coordinator at Bradford Cat Watch Rescue, had always wanted to do a calendar for the rescue and being in lockdown in 2020 gave her an ideal opportunity to organise one. Carrots, the only registered blind Pets as Therapy cat and Blue Cross Medal winner of 2020, graced the front cover for their 2021 calendar.

Due to time constraints, preparations for the 2022 calendar only began in September. One of the rescue’s supporters, who is a photographer and graphic designer, offered her services. She organised the photoshoot and everything to do with the calendar. Like last year’s, the 2022 calendar focuses on raising awareness of the cats in the rescue with special needs, known as the SENSE cats (which stands for safe, enriching, nurturing, sensory, and environment). The rescue has many cats and kittens with severe disabilities and extra special needs.

The honour of the front cover of 2022 goes to Manisha, a kitten who travelled for 30 hours from Dubai and arrived at the rescue on 13 August. Manisha had severe injuries which were thought to be caused by a road traffic accident. This remarkable little cat has already undergone surgery and thanks to a specially built disability scooter she is able to get around the rescue.

For each month of the calendar every cat has a quote.Katie said:“The quotes reflect the personalities and situations the cats have been or are in. For example, on Manisha’s page it says: ‘When asked if my cup is half full or half empty — I am simply grateful for my cup.’”

● The calendar is proving so popular that is has now gone into its second run. If anyone would like to purchase one, at a cost of £10 plus £3.50 P&P, please complete a form on the website www. bcwr-kittens.co.uk/calendar/ or contact Katie on 07942 822509.
