The eggs of the Rhode Is­land Red are light brown in colour and, as be­fit­ting of this in­flu­en­tial lay­ing breed, the hens are ca­pa­ble of pro­duc­ing be­tween 220-260 eggs a year. Their egg pro­duc­tion will re­main high for a num­ber of years mak­ing them an ex­cel­lent in­vest­ment for both large and small scale poul­try keep­ing.
