Your Chickens - - Before the Backyard -

Whether fighting or pecking seeds, chickens were revered and held in high esteem by their owners in ancient times. Fortunes could be made and lives could be lost all because of a chicken, so it is little wonder that their early domesticated life was a respected one and, in many cases, a sacred one; an existence far removed from their factory farmed future.

Archaeological records and historical documents would indicate that chickens were first domesticated not as we would expect, for culinary purposes, but for completely different reasons. Chickens
