Friendships between chickens are not unusual, but Michelle Dunn has discovered an unbreakable bond between a hen and her daughter that is extremely rare
her nestbox, Bigtail trooped back in with her and they stayed nestled together.
I was expecting trouble when the eggs hatched, but, in fact, Bigtail simply stayed with Tufty as she raised her brood. Whether she was helpful to Tufty in raising them I don’t know, but after the new additions had grown up and been driven away, Bigtail remained with Tufty. To this day, the two of them remain inseparable.
