CONGRATULATIONS!

Many happy returns to natural dog food maker Forthglade, which is celebrating its 50th birthday this spring.

To coincide with festivities, the Devon-based company conducted a nationwide poll, which revealed that half of owners spend more on birthday presents for their dogs than their partners, with 70 per cent marking their canine companion’s special day every year.

Forthglade’s study also found that the average owner splashes out £62 on their dog’s birthday, while the under-30s really roll out the red carpet, spending £70, compared to the over-60s who spend just £19. Meanwhile, 55 per cent of 16 – 29-year-olds admitted being influenced by social media when it comes to treating and spoiling their dogs.

Although 84 per cent of us know our dog’s real birthday, 69 per cent of those who don’t make a date up so they can still celebrate.

If money was no object, 53 per cent of us dream of throwing a lavish birthday party for our dog and his friends, featuring a spread of tasty treats, animal-friendly party games, group photos, and doggy bags to take home.

To celebrate canine milestones across the country — and 50 years of making natural recipes for dogs — Forthglade has launched a limited edition sardines & haddock with potato & broccoli birthday meal, costing £1.45. Containing vitamins, minerals, botanicals and 75 per cent sustainably caught fish, landed in Devon, this tasty grain-free recipe is the perfect treat for any dog’s special day.

Also, as part of the celebrations, Forthglade is donating 50,000 trays of its natural pet food to UK canine charities via its

‘50 For 50’ initiative. Ten charities will be selected each month to receive donations for five months.
